Health and safety policy template for Canadian employers
A health and safety policy is the one-page statement, signed by the most senior person in the company, that commits the employer to protecting workers and sets out who is responsible for what. It opens every health and safety program and is usually the first document a client or inspector asks to see. In Ontario, employers with more than five regular workers must prepare a written policy, review it at least once a year and post it in the workplace. Our policy template is an editable Word document for $9 CAD.

Questions
Do I have to post my health and safety policy?
In Ontario, yes, when more than five workers are regularly employed. Other provinces expect the policy to be part of your program and available to workers; posting it is good practice everywhere.
How often should the policy be reviewed?
At least once a year, and whenever the company changes in a way that affects it. Sign and date each review.
