Oil and gas safety manual: what it should contain
An oil and gas safety manual is the written health and safety program for oilfield service, construction and maintenance companies. It must cover the core program elements plus the hazards of the patch: hydrogen sulphide and other toxic atmospheres, ground disturbance, confined spaces, hot work, hazardous energy, mobile equipment, working alone, and new and short service workers. Our Oil and Gas manual is written for each of 9 provinces and territories; the Alberta edition runs 344 pages with 40 safe work practices and 35 forms. $499 CAD, instant download.
Updated
The hazards an oil and gas manual has to control
- Hydrogen sulphide, flammable atmospheres and gas detection.
- Ground disturbance and excavation near buried facilities.
- Confined space entry, hot work and permits to work.
- Lockout of hazardous energy, pressure and process equipment.
- Mobile equipment, driving and working alone in remote locations.
- New and short service workers, orientations and supervision.
Forms for the field
Oilfield clients audit paperwork as hard as they audit the site. The Alberta Oil and Gas package includes 35 fillable PDF forms, from field-level hazard assessments to incident investigations, so your crew has the records ready before the client asks.
